Around Town

We are so fortunate to live in an area filled with beautiful and historic places. It is our goal to see and explore as many of them as we possibly can. Though greatly hindered by the ever-present snow for many months, we have (finally!!) begun to see the first hints of spring, and have started our first explorations.

Our wanderings this weekend took us to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s Wayside Inn in Sudbury MA. One you pull off the Old Boston Post Road and onto the wooden footpath its like taking a step into another time. And sometimes that is just what is needed. A section of this historic Inn is restored in its original style complete with Redcoat soldiers! We had a wonderful time exploring the beautiful rooms and are so anxious to return when we can fully explore the beautiful grounds and various buildings on site. The Inn now functions as a restaurant…and what a restaurant it is! We snuck a peak at a baby shower being set up in one of the upper dining rooms…what a beautiful way to celebrate a new babe! We had lunch in a small little dining room restored in period style complete with a deliciously cozy fire in the large fireplace. And may I just say…the clam chowder is a.m.a.z.i.n.g.!!! Thick and creamy and oh-so-delicious!!! If you are going to explore the historic places on a decidedly still winters day it is best to end with a steaming bowl of clam chowder in front of a cozy fire am I right?!?!?!IMG_8330
